After a summer in which the brain-dead and the uninformed became more invested in the system than ever – the Queens sickening Jubilee celebrations spring to mind – it comes as no surprise to see Facebook and twitter threads awash with stomach churning platitudes regarding the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 “terror attacks”.
Apparently it is “time to pause to remember the 3000 victims” of the 9/11 “terror attacks”. Of course it is, but their killers still possess the throne. And in any case, I do not need to be told to do that. Such glib sentiments and artificial morality are, of course, the preserve of social networking sites.
Apparently our thoughts should also be with the families of those “brave soldiers sacrificing their lives in the war on terror”. They’re protecting our “freedoms” you know.
Quick, pass me the sick bag.
If anyone is stupid enough to still cling to the absurd notion that a man hiding in the caves of Afghanistan orchestrated the events of 9/11 then, in my opinion, you are beyond helping. 9/11 was an inside job, carried out by operatives at the highest levels of power within the US Defence Department, the CIA and the executive branches of government. 9/11 was a highly ambitious false flag operation, in which innocent US citizens were regarded as mere collateral, in order to justify a series of imperialist / resource wars in the Middle and Near East. And trust me, that doesn’t get anywhere near to the bottom of the rabbit hole.
Yes, we must remember the victims of this atrocity. But equally, we must also remember the victims of US and British imperialism in Afghanistan, Iraq, and more recently, Libya. We do not see these victims. We cannot hear their screams or see their scars because the corporate owned media do not want you to. If they did, then this infantile, John Wayne mentality of the US as the “good guys” would simply collapse under its own preposterous incongruity.
It’s time to wake up and to grow up folks. Don’t just jump on the 9/11 bandwagon because it is politic and popular. If you really want to make a difference, and bring closure to the victims, then take the time to research the many unanswered questions that abound in relation to the events of 9/11. Expose the truth and help to bring the real culprits to justice.
But what about those “brave soldiers”? As Donovan once wrote:
He’s five foot-two, and he’s six feet-four,
He fights with missiles and with spears.
He’s all of thirty-one, and he’s only seventeen,
He’s been a soldier for a thousand years.
And he’s fighting for Democracy,
He’s fighting for the Reds,
He says it’s for the peace of all.
He’s the one who must decide,
Who’s to live and who’s to die,
And he never sees the writing on the wall.
But without him,
How would Hitler have condemned him at Labau?
Without him Caesar would have stood alone,
He’s the one who gives his body
As a weapon of the war,
And without him all this killing can’t go on.
He’s the Universal Soldier and he really is to blame,
His orders come from far away no more,
They come from here and there and you and me,
And brothers can’t you see,
This is not the way we put an end to war.
Here is the true face of the “war on terror” and “liberation”…
